2001 jeep grand cherokee limited V8. (80,000 miles) my jeep seems to be running fine, however my check engine light came on when i was 300 miles over my oil service date(every 3000). i checked my oil and it was pretty dirty so i went directly to the shop to get it changed, thinking that might be why the check engine light was on. What other reasons could the light be on for??? everything is running as smoothly as always.[img:4bad534f55]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/123309_96f9_3_1.jpg[/img:4bad534f55]

The computer has identified a problem within the engine management system-could be a sensor/actuator/wire or the computer itself. You need to get the OBD2 scanned for code/s-autozone will read for free, this is the starting point of diagnosis and bring the code back so that we can decode it.
