i have an 04 Liberty 4WD that makes loud clunking noises when I put it in 4WD -either part-time or full-time. Also when I take off from a stop, something seems to be stuck and "let go" in the rear tires. Any ideas?

Hi:
Does the noise go away?

As far as the rear, have the brakes checked. It sounds like they may be sticking.

Hi,
Does your Liberty have a limited slip rear axle and if so, have you changed the oil in it? The limited slip rear requires an additive or the differential will "grab" due to the clutches not releasing properly.
