My car is leaking oil ...would it be caused from not changing the oil filter and oil in a while? My husband look under the car but could not find anything wrong other than he said the oil filter look old. I need my car to get to work but I cant afford to take it in right now. What can I do?

Hi:
It is important to keep the oil changed to extend engine life. As far as a leak, it could be from many areas. Yes the filter could leak, the drain plug, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket... What I recommend it to have the oil changed and ask the tech to identify where the leak is coming from.

Let me know if you have other questions. Also, make sure the oil level is full.
