2002 Jeep Liberty Tailgate won't unlock

My tailgate lock won't unlock whether I use a key or the key fob. Any ideas/suggestions?

Chances are the linkage in the door has come disconnected. What I recommend is to remove the inner door panel to access and check the linkage and handle.
