98 grand Cherokee reverse lights

I have a 98 grand cherokee laredo and the backup lights do not work i have replaced both bulbs and was wondering what else could be the problem?

Check the transmission range switch also known as neutral safety switch. The power has to come out from there to get to the back-up lights.
