Well about 6 months ago a slight tick began and it was very faint when it began and has slowly grown louder and now sounds like ticking as if there is no oil in the motor. This is a 4.0L straight 6 and 92000 miles. It will randomly come and go. Sometimes its cold and does it and sometimes not. Same for when the motor is up to temp.

i have tried using only premium gas for 2 months about 4 tanks a month.

i have mixed marvel mystery oil every tank for those 2 months

i have put 1 quart of marvel mystery oil in with oil at a regular oil change.

also I need to do 90000 maintenance. I have K&N air filter as well as have put autolite platinum plugs in recently and switched to 10-30 full synthetic valvoline max life. (GOOD MOVE?)

any help will be appreciated. Looking for the most cost efficient method to solve this problem

thank you

Unfortunatly if you have a sticky/bad lifter additives wont bring it back to life. They have internal seals that go bad sometimes, that is why it ticks, it cant hold oil pressure. If it is a roller lifter ( check with Jeep) then you could replace just the one bad lifter. If it is a regular style lifter, you run the chance of damaging the cam/new lifter when only replacing the lifter due to wear pattern and mating surfaces. Try using a thicker oil (10-40/20-50) to see if the lifter pumps up better.
