Not sure if this is the right category but today my dads jeep started to smell like burning, then his Check Gages light went on, and the temp went as high up as it could go, we pulled over, and there was white smoke coming from the engine area, and we thought maybe it needed oil because he was a little behind on an oil change. We got 2 quarts of oil, put in one and a half... drove about 10 mins down the road, seemed ok, was running cool and not shaking... then it started again, went right to hot, shaking and smoking... pulled over again and we added more antifreeze just incase it was low. It ran a tiny bit cooler on the way to the house... It's been in the driveway and we haven't checked it yet, but do you have any idea what it could be? His mechanic is about 13 miles from the house, should he risk driving it, or have it towed there?
He had the radiator replaced last year so I am not sure if it has anything to do with the radiator but I just wanted to let you know.
