I believe my thermostat has gone bad and that same day (yesterday) anytime I would go start the jeep, it acted like the battery was not charged enough to start the car. It did start but it struggled. Is there any relation between the 2 problems?

Only if it got wet, or too hot. Sounds like it's now drawing too much amperage. replace it.
