2001 Jeep Laredo Brake light on left not working

Good evening,
My back, left brake light only works when the Jeep is shut off and even then it's dimmer than the right side. When the car is turned ON, the left brake light doesn't work at all.
I've changed bulbs and that's not the issue.
When I hit the brake, the back left just doesn't work when the Jeep is running. Also, when the car is running the left running light is dimmer than the right.
Any thoughts?

start by checking all fuses if they are all ok trace wires running from bulbs for open or short circuits
