When I go to start my jeep, there is some hesitation when it cranks over. It sounds like it almost wont turn over. It always does but makes a grinding type noise. I recently tried holding the key in the on position before cranking and it has seemed to help.

Do I need my fuel system flushed? Or a new pump?

Please Help!

If its cranking slow or won't crank at all

Check the battery and connection if okay might want to have the starter checked out the overrunning clutch could be slipping.

Now if it cranks over okay and refuses to start-Get the fuel and ignition system check or do below

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor /distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, ECM, Ignitor cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
