2000 Jeep Laredo engine light

As I turn on my car one morning, the engine made a shking sound and shut off. When I tried to start the engine again, the engine light came on, and won't go off. The car runs fine, doesn't get hot, and performs normally. What do I do next? I am a single mom and don't have extra for car repairs>

Since you are trying to avoid a bill I would take it to autozone and have them scan the codes and post them back to me.

Ill be able to tell you what they mean and what can be done to correct it.
