I need to have a little more information to be able to help you. Is your engine actually overheating, i.E, the temp guage climbs and does not go down while idling?
The fan itself could be bad, to test if the fan is bad, let it get up to operating temps and let it idle, then check conductivity going from the plug that is near or attached to the fan. If you have power going to the fan then the fan may be bad. Also, note that the fan will not operate all the time and is typically only used while at idle or for the A/C. If you have two fans and one is electrical while the other is mechanical, then the fan only operates usually when the A/C is in operation(note the electrical fan is usually placed where the condenser is in front of the radiator). I am not trying to overload you with info. But mearly trying to help you understand more.
