2000 Jeep Laredo break lights

Brakes problem
2000 Jeep Laredo 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I changed a bad tail light. As soon as I put the new light in, the tail lights stop working. I have regular light when turned on but when I press the brake, the brake lights will not turn on.

Have you checked the socket to make sure it is getting power?
