1999 Jeep Laredo transmission problem

my engine is leaking oil,except everytime i checf the oil level it is full, last week my transmission started missing shifts, i checked the fluid ,and it was allmost empty. I filled it up and it is really leaking out,I cant find out from where, seems like between the engine and the trans, the fluid is black,like old engine oil, the trans fluid on the dip stck is red like its supposed to be, any ideas?

take some degreaser and spray engine and trans to clean off old oil let dry and then restart jeep look under jeep and see were the oil is coming from if it is from between engine and trans then it is the front trans seal if it is coming from were dipstick tube is it is the O-ring around tube
