I am planning on replacing the front drive shaft in my grand cherokee I was wondering what parts I needed to complete this myself, also I cant tell if the CV joint is part of the drive shaft or not. The mechanic i took it too said somthing about a knuckle the was wearing out could you tell me what you guess he is talking although I still plan on replacing the whole thing.

If you are refering to the drive shaft, chances are he is refering to a universal joint. Unless the drive shaft has been damaged (BENT) it will be fine. A u-joint will be under 20.00.

As far as a CV joint, that deals with the front axle not the driveshaft.

Let me know if you have other questions.
