Transmission problem
1994 Jeep Laredo V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 130xxx miles

i jus recently bought a 1994 jeep laredo v8 5.2l
the seller had told me that he rebuilt the transmission.
driving for a week now and i notice that it's hard to start the car so i replace the battery, yet it seems like something is draining the battery.
another problem is that the transmission will not shift out of 1st gear. it doesn't matter what rpm i'm at. so now i just slowly creep whereever i want to go. i want to get this first. do you have any idea what is happening and if so, can i fix it?? if not, can you give me an estimate on repair or get a new transmission. thank you in advance.

As far as the trans goes, ifit was just rebuilt I would take it right back where it was done.Does the speedometer work? f not the computer may not be allowing it out of gear because it doesnt know when to shift it.I would have a reputable trans shop look at it and diagnose it, most likely something simple. The draw on the battery will be another issue, these can be difficult to find.Be sure all interior lights are off, does it have any aftermarket electrical items? (alarm, stereo) if so pull the fuses for them and see if it takes care of the problem
