1994 Jeep Laredo Automatic

I have a 1994 jeep laredo. The engine is making a loud knocking noise and when i accelerate, it becomes even louder. I was told it was a valve, but Im trying to find the exact name of the part so i can purchase it. Thank you.

The type of knocking you're hearing is it a ticking/tapping/thudding/thumping????
