Due to temperatures. Being as cold as they are. Im cranking my vehicles daily. And after crankin my jeep yesterday. Letting it run little bit.I went to turn it off and found oil directly under the oil filter. About the size of a saucer plate. And im wondering if the oil filter has expanded and then thawed out after heating the motor. And or the seal in the filter is bad and cant withstand the temps here. In north carolina. Around 15 at nite' would I be able to try to turn the filter to tighten up and then see if the leak has stopped. And still drive to get it checked. There is no water flowing out at all and I dont think it is the motor. Frozen. It did not run hot at all. Left it runnin bout 25 minutes b4 I turned it off. Thank you for your help and god bless you.

I do not know what vehicle you have such as a cherokee or Grand Cherokee but some of those Cherokees had an oil adapter on it with an "O" ring. To find out if you have an oil adapter is easy. If your oil filter is pointing directly towards you passenger side fender and not pointing towards the back of your vehicle, then you do NOT have an oil adapter. If your oil filter is pointing towards the back of your vehicle, then you have an oil adapter. If you have an oil adapter, chances are that this is where your leak is coming from. They are very prone to leaking from the oil adapter "O" ring. Take it to a garage to have them replace it. It should only cost you about $35 or so to have them do it. If it is not an oil adapter "O" ring, check to make sure that when someone pulled off the old oil filter, that they didn't accidentally leave the seal from the old one on your vehicle when they put the new one on as this will cause leaks too.
