This is a bit hard to say as it is your money, if it was mine I would not be spending that sort of money on a 10 year old car, but if you like the car and the body and interior is in great shape and you can see you self driving this car for another 10 years, then may be it is a good idea to spend the money on it as you say an up date is going to set you back a considerable amount more, but if you want to keep it for the longer term spend it on this car, apart from basics, brakes and suspension, you will have a near new car anyway.
