See my profile, Can show you many homemade modifications...Can do almost anything for a CJ!
IS THE OLD TUBE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE BLOCK?
IS THE NEW ONE CORRECT, CAN YOU PRECISION MEASURE AND COMPARE THE TUBES?
So this will make sense, follow 1st....Do Later:
1st---find a METAL ROD, that will fit tightly(still rotate EZily) INSIDE of your tube, the full length of the tube, but sticks out 3-4 inches. (Threaded rod and a nut, will achieve this same goal)
2nd---find 3-4 steel washers that will tightly slide on the Metal Rod, and will Butt against the Upper end of the tube.
3rd---Lock a pair of VISE GRIPS on the metal rod, REALLY TIGHT against the washers....Does this look like a GOOD IMPROVISED DRIVING TOOL?
4th---REMOVE THE TUBE from this Improvised assembly......at a very steep angle, file it (the tube) into somewhat of a bevel, all the way around, on the block end.
5th---Put tube in the FREEZER for a few hours/ if you so happen, to have Dry Ice, it would speed things up (to shrink it)
6th---remove from freezer----VERY QUICLY assemble it on Improvised Driving Tool (IDT!).......drive her home with a hammer.(before tube warms up!)
If you do not understand, let me know!
Let me know your outcome, and if you want to see some of my "Trick CJ Stuff".
