I have plans to remove 258 engine and AMC TH400 as one unit (front group off) before replacing with 4.3 V6, same transmission. I want to know how the trans seperates from the T-case? Bottom support plate appears to hold T-case in place directly behind trans so I have not removed it. Is there a slip-joint yoke that will simply seperate upon pull away or what?

Yes, once the t-case is unbolted from the trans, it will just slip off. There shouldnt be a mess in doing so, there is a seal betwen the two
