See my profile. IF it is caked on, Hand held wire brush does well........WARNING...most have had wet dirt trapped between plastic guards and tank......removing the rust, most of the time, leaves MANY PINHOLES IN TANK...FOR SURE, add 1 gallon gas to tank, roll around look for holes before you waste your time on reinstall (ask my neighbor, RON!!!!).........GLASSING over holes, NEW TANK (steel or plastic), or what I did--------NEW 21 GALLON POLYETHYENE TANK W/ sending unit! ........are your options......I REALLY LIKE IT(fewer gas stops). ONLY downside to it, I see is, it hangs down lower than original (uses your old skidplate, comes w/ extenders). Serious 4X4ing might hurt it. Can continue discussion/ help find you cyber deal.............Waddu Think?
