1977 Jeep CJ5 Cranks but No start

I have done some preliminary checks, what I found wash no spark while cranking but sometimes a small spark when cranking is stoped. I have looked at all the connections, they appear to be "ok". I have voltage to the coil with ign swtich on and while cranking. I am thinking it may be the hall switch in the dist.

I will check the rotation of the dist and check the signal from the hall switch, how do I do that anyways? Does it need to be powered up in order to see the signal? How do I test the ign module?

I did find the coil wire is open, could taht have caused damage to the ign module, I read that you need to disconnect something while testing? I also read that you should not use plug wires 3 and 5 for testing. My thoughts are if the coil wire failed did it cause an internal issue with the ign module?

If the coil is sparking the ignition control module is good its purpose is to switch the primary windings-it acts similar to a contact point distributor to break the circuit-
