Reverse to Drive and back again I hear a Whine?

When I shift from Park to Reverse to Drive and back again I hear a Whine with each shift, I would like to get some idea what this is and what needs to be done to correct it.

You might need to adjust the gear shift linkages, if it checks out and continues to whine you have an internal problem with the transmission.
