I have a problem with the cruise control. I turn it on, but I can’t set it to any speed. What could be the problem? This happen after a repair, but I don’t know if fixing one thing mess with the cruise control. The mechanic replaced spark plug, fuel filter and did a fuel injection cleaning service.

Hi Pablo.Fernandez5. Welcome to the forum. Do you have a green "Cruise" light on the dash? If so, does it turn on? If not, suspect a partially broken clock spring under the steering wheel. As it continues to break, eventually the horn will stop working and the Air Bag light will come on.

If the light on the dash does turn on, hold the brake pedal up with your toes when you press the "Set" button. If that works, the brake light switch is out of adjustment. The switch can be defective too. The brake lights use a different part of the switch so they would still work.

Check for the vacuum hose or electrical plug being disconnected from the servo under the hood. You can find the servo by following the throttle cable back to it from the throttle body.

If none of those are the problem, the dealer will connect his hand-held computer, called a scanner, that will show the state of every switch, input, and output related to the cruise control, and it will give the reason for the last time it turned off. That reason can be the most important clue in the diagnosis of the system.
