I have trouble getting the remote to work to lock and unlock the car unless I am right next to the car. Even then sometimes it takes 2-3 times an the button.
Just replaced batteries. not the problem.
Where is the receiver unit in the car? and can that be the problem?

If the batteries are new, why don't you try resetting the FOB.
