2003 Jeep Cherokee Check Engine light

My check engine light has just come on it seemed right after I turned off my a/c. There seems to be no performance problems after the light went on. Will the light ever go out? What should I do?

Have to get the codes
and you can do so by cycling key on off on off on
read codes in odometer area or using an OBDII code reader
let me know what you have for codes
