while my car is in park and on it will "rev" up so to speak. It will go up to like 1500 rpms and then back down and then back up and then down as if I am pushing on the gas. Someone told me it was the speed sensor that needs to be changed. What are your thoughts. It does not do this all the time or everytime I would say 2 days a week and only for about the last 3 weeks.

THe speed sensor has nothing to do with it. You either have a vacuum leak or a bad throttle position sensor. Has the check engine light ever come on?
