2002 Jeep Cherokee Oil Pressure

The oil pressure was beteween 40 and 60 PSI. Now it is between 65 and 70 at an idle and in the high 70's under load. What is the cause and cure?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch, in your case could be the oil pump pressure relief valve sticking
