2002 Jeep Cherokee Engine Racing

I have been having an issue with the engine racing before the transmission kicks in. It only seems to happen when I take left turns (weird). The engine races for 2 or 3 seconds and then everything is fine. Thoughts?

Check Idle air control valve and any vacuum leaks.
