Engine Mechanical problem

Hey there, yesterday i had this problem with my car where i cant even turn the keys to the ignition. It was stuck, the reason why I know it wasnt lock is because i can jerk the steering wheel still, my shift wont even turn to neutral. I had asked my friends about this they said maybe the tumbler was broken or what not, what should i do get another key or just take it to a dealership and let them see what they can do with it? and how much does it typically cost?
