My mechanic says I might have a problem with the differential in my Jeep. He says it might last 20 miles or 2000 miles and it's best to just wait until it goes out then replace. Good advice? How much should I expect to pay to relace?

Well, I can't say if it is good advice without knowing what is wrong with it. At 79K, there shouldn't be anything wrong. ALso, based on what is wrong with it, the differential could lock up causing the tires to lock and you lose control of the vehicle. Can you describe what it is doing and what he said is wrong?

e[/quote:e637822beb] Thanks for the reply. The mechanic said when he drove it he thought the noise was coming from the differential. I've noticed the dull roar seemingly in the rearend.
