2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

I have a 2000 model Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7l V8 62000miles,
I am looking to replace the front door speakers however there must be a crossover (passive or active?) Of some sort as I cannot get the tweeters to operate on the new speakers.
Any help with this would be appreciated

If the polarity is right. The radio isnt sending a tweeter signal.

[Thanks for the reply.
If I attach the new speaker to the tweeter location on the top of the dash the tweeter in the new speeker will work, but if I connect it to the door speaker location the tweeter wont work.
