2000 Jeep Cherokee slow start

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited will not start up with the first turn of the key. It usually takes 2 or 3 turns. Mechanic says it is the o ring going above the gas tank that lets feul into starter. What do you think of this?

Test the engine coolant temperature sensor and also check the fuel pressure then report back
