2000 Jeep Cherokee Radiator Problem

Recently my jeep grand cherokee laredo overheated. The radiator blew a hose while I was driving. My guess a broken thermometor was the cause, as there was plenty of coolant/water in the reserve tank. However, when the car overheated and the hose blew steam went everywhere.I was able to drive my car to the nearest pull over spot and my car shut itself off.I do know it was running in the red which I know means trouble. Right now the car is in my parking lot. Several people state that I just need to purchase a new radiator and hoses and clamps (fairly inexpensive compared to most engine work) but my fear is that it could be worse than that. In this situation, what is the worse that could happen. And how much in the worse case scenario would these fixes cost me? Is it worth it, since it is an almost 11 year old car? The outside is in good condition. Interior is in great condition. All electrical, however the left side passengers seat has lost all electrical power, and so have the passenger's window and the rear drivers side window (due to failed motors/electrical short) I bought the car for 3K, and it's now worth much less than that. Please answer. Thank you
