2000 Jeep Cherokee Large vapor leak

I get a code 455, large vapor leak, with the check engine light on. I retightened the gas cap and the light still comes on. I can smell a strong fuel odor from the gas cap side, towards the rear of the vehicle where the gas tank is. How do find where the leak is??

A smoke machine is attached and smoke is pumped in, where it comes out is the leak. You can only hope to visually find a pinhole, they can appear at the filler pipe. Check for rust, or crusted on diry, wipe it off and inspect the area.
