So this summer I noticed that my Jeep gets hotter then usual while idling (in traffic). The temperature gauge used to always sit at 100(in the middle 50%) regardless of wether I was driving or idling. Now I see it fill up 75% of the gauge and sometimes more depending on how long I idle. Shortly after I start moving and pick up some speed the temperature gauge drops down to about 50%.

I checked and verified that the clutch fan is spinning.

You make sure that the fan shroud is in good working condition and securley bolted up to the radiator? If not the suction action of the fan is weakend, has the idle speed went down lately, using under drive pulleys/

try adding a bottle of water wetter. Its a bit expensive but works like a charm.

I didn't notice that there is also a electric cooling fan in front of the clutch fan.

I drove around and heated up the truck, then parked and let it idle to warm up even more, checked the fans, the clucth fan was spinning but the electric fan was off.

I read on some forums that the Fan Relay is known to go causing the fan to not work, however I did not get a check engine light. Any ideas?

Direct battery power to the fan motor if it comes On -test wiring and relay/temperature switch and computer control of relay.
