1999 Jeep Cherokee belt squeal

when the a/c compresser comes on, the belt squeals. I put new belt on, and adj tension. If the a/c system were low on pag oil, could it cause the compresser to drag enough to make the belt squeak.

I suggest trying to tighten the belt a little more. If the compressor is locking up, you will see smoke coming from the belt on the AC pulley.
