1998 Jeep Cherokee Problems starting engine

I have a 1998 Jeep cherokee sport the problem is that it won't always start when its in park but it will start in neutral. A friend told me that it the transmission safety switch. What do you think?

Replace the park and neutral position switch/NSS/range switch see below
