I've been having an issue with a recurring "Check Engine" light. From my own research, the resulting code, P1282, relates to an issue with the fuel pump relay circuit. So in trying to troubleshoot the issue myself, I bought a new relay from Autozone and popped it into the circuit board, but that didn't resolve the problem. The Check Engine light goes on and off (but mostly on), and I've noticed that it usually comes on when there's seemingly a strain in acceleration. I had the computer replaced about 7 months ago (at which time the Check Engine error was "cylinder misfire", all 6 of them to be exact), so I'm hoping that it isn't a problem with the pc again. Could you please suggest what might be the problem this time and how I can correct it once and for all? I sure would appreciate it, and my wallet would too.

Hello Jack, my apologies. It's a Laredo (photo attached). Additional info, not sure if relevant: vehicle was parked in previous owner's garage for about a year without use. In addition to the pc, the ignition coil, water pump, oxygen sensor, and battery were also replaced.

Since you replaced the relay, it could be th ePCM, wiring from PCM to relay, or the fused power circuit from the ignition switch to the relay. You will need a meter to find out which. Unplug relay and using meter test for 12 volts with key on. If ok, then you will need to test the continuity of the wire (trigger) from the PCM to the relay. If you dont have 12 volts, it may be a feed problema nd a continuity test will need to be done to see which wire isnt giving full voltage
