My catalytic converter "rattles". Whatever it is - is internal to the converter. The heat shields on the outside are intact and no rust to speak of. Is there something internal to the coverter that can come loose?

it is the internal materials that is degrading and causing the rattling noise to occur. hit the outside of it, does it rattle?

needs replacing before it clogs up.
