1997 Jeep Cherokee Cranking Problem

I own a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, V8 (5.2 liter engine). Recently after it has sat still for several hours it turns excessively before it finally cranks. It cranks normally if only sits for an hour or so. What could the problem be?

Hello, I'd use a gage and check fuel pressure, when the problem occurs, The vehicle cranks ok, but, won't start.

You could also do some other basic tests. Have helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs, when it refuses to start. Also check trouble codes.
