1996 Jeep Cherokee V6

The speedometer, tachometer and the milage counter all quit working around the same time and the check engine light came on. The other gauges still work. I have replaced the vehicle speed sensor thinking that would take care of it, but it did not change a thing. It has 141237 miles on it and for the most part has been a pretty good Jeep, knock wood. Any help would be great.

Not sure of the number, but it was the vehicle speed sensor, is what my tool says that I bought a few days ago. I cleared it since I changed out the part, but the speedometer and things are not working. Just drove it about 45-50 miles, and the check engine light didn't come back on. Not sure where to go from here.

I drove it a little more and got the code to come back up, it is P0500. I know it is the speed sensor, but I have replaced it, any other ideas?
