1996 Jeep Cherokee sun roof turns my stereo back on!?

1996 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

I installed an aftermarket stereo and after about a month it quit working I couldnt figure out why, then as I was driving I opened the sun roof and the stereo came on!! wow now sometimes the stereo doesnt work and I click the sun roof button and it works again but this also causes the sun roof not to work either, its one or the other. any ideas? I thought it was the ground for the stereo and I moved it that wasnt it.
