My wife's cherokee makes a chattering sound when it is cranked up. It only does this when you are starting the engine. Last year the starter went out and I replaced it, but the noise did not go away. Could it possibly be a problem related to the flywheel? Every now and then the sound does not occur, and it starts just fine, but it is few and far between

HI there,

I would be checking the starter, and make sure that there is no odd drive marks on the ring gear that would indicate a miss alignment or drive issue.
