1996 Jeep Cherokee Knocking Noise

My power steering pump was replaced 2 years ago but has begun to leak again, and my jeep has started knocking. Everyone seems to think this noise is coming from the power steering pump and not the engine. My oil pressure is good and my jeep has plenty of power. What do you think about my vehicles problem?

To isolate the sound, remove the power steeling belt and start the engine, is the knock gone? If not, the engine needs work!
