removed defective neutral safety switch. have a new switch, however, the old switch was extremely difficult to remove. finally out, but the stop behind the big bolt thread or whatever its named, is broken. probably about 1/4 of it is out. Now I have no idea what to do. replacing the switch is no problem, however, I don't know what I must do about the broken stop (or whatever it is).

the shaft where the switch fits and is secured by the tabbed washer and attaching nut. at the base of the attaching nut threads there is what I believe is the oil seal. This seal (or even if its not an oil seal} needs to be replaced. It was busted or broken during removal. I looked on alldata and and it appears to me that the shaft is the manual valve shaft. It shows a picture of the manual valve shaft and the broken part. I'm just not sure if I am looking at the correct item....Only the oil seal or whatever it is needs to be replaced. It was broken during removal.

Im thinking your best bet will be to go to the local parts house and have them bring up a pic of the seals for the shift shaft and see if it is right
