Wife had similar issues with her Ford Escape
I was told it could be the IAC (Intake Air Control) It controls the Idle by "Bypassing" your throttle butterfly.
Basically at low RPM, fuel is not completely controlled to keep idle in check......But the incoming combustion air is.
This thing is located on the intake (where your air cleaner hose stops and the Throttle Body begins) It has a Motor on it, Wife's had 2 bolts, yours may have more.
It can be cleaned (which I did, just to verify the problem), but I feared that since it had right at 100,000 miles..........Under $50 was not a lot to invest for a new one........Now I have an Emergency Spare one!
