This will require removing the steering wheel (disabling the airbag FIRST), removing lock plate that covers switch, unbolting column from bracket to get switch and wires out, etc. Not too difficult if you're an ok shade-tree mechanic. I recommend getting a Haynes Jeep cherokee repair Manual #50010, 1984-1999 to allow you to see the illustrations and answer any questions that might come up before starting. Plus, it'll really come in handy to answer future questions, and makes great bathroom reading material!(Learn while you. Aren't doing anything else!)
Good Luck.
