Transmission problem
1995 Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl Manual 213000 miles

When I put my car in 1st or 2nd gear, it will not move forward. (of course not in 3rd or 4th or 5th either) The engine sounds like it wants to but won't. Last time it was driven by my husband there was a burning smell. I broke my arm and could not drive it for a while. My husband drove it and not being use to the manual car, I think he started it out in second gear. I did not drive it for two months as I was not able to shift. I have had absolutely no problems with my Jeep until now. No clue what to even ask at a repair location for. I hate to take it somewhere without an idea of what may be wrong. Thanks for your assistance.
